- All applicants must be at least eighteen years of age at the time of applying for their license.
- All applicants will be required to complete sixty clock hours of training in real estate fundamentals from a state approved real estate course provider. This must be complete within five years prior to applying for a license.
- All applicants must successfully complete the Washington State real estate exam.
- Once an applicant has passed their exam they will be able to complete and submit the Washington salesperson application.
Washington Real Estate Continuing Education Requirements
If this is your first time renewing, any person obtaining their real estate license after July 1, 1995, will be required to complete thirty clock hours in Real Estate Practices, in addition to thirty clock hours of approved education when renewing for the first time on an active status.
If you have already renewed your license in the past, the State of Washington now requires that all licensee’s complete thirty clock hours of real estate education every two years on their birthday. Within those thirty hours, the licensee will be required to include three hours of prescribed core curriculum if they wish their license to remain active.
Washington Real Estate License Reciprocity Agreements
Any applicant that is already licensed in another state will need to request a license history from the Real Estate Commission of the state with which you are currently licensed. As long as your history indicates that you have held an active real estate license within the previous six months, the state of Washington will waive the National portion of the real estate exam and you will only be required to test on the Washington Law section of the exam.
In addition to the above, the license history will also provide information that will allow a waiver of the education requirements for applicant.
