We all want traffic to our websites, especially real estate agents, but at what expense? Well, in reality, your expenses should be pretty low unless of course you’re buying some mainstream advertising on television, in print or on major websites and other online applications, which let’s face it, most real estate agents just don’t do, especially when money is as tight as it is these days.
In fact, unless you are one of the exceptions above, you should be able to market your website for free, that’s right! Zip, zilch, nada! Below are some free methods that you can be using to not only drive more visitors to your website, but also increase your search engine rankings.
Real Estate Marketing the Free Way:
As I have already mentioned, there are a number of free methods that you can use to market your real estate related website. The secret to marketing is not lots of money, but rather lots of creativity. The more creative you are with your marketing efforts, the sooner it will pay off. I should also remind you that buying links is a no-no, so stay away from it.
1. Free directories – Alright, so its no secret that directory listings don’t pack the same punch that they once did, but they are still links. Truth be told, directories related to your site topic, in other words real estate directories, will provide much more valuable backlinks for your site and are a viable means of on topic links.
2. Guest articles – Guest articles often provide some of the highest quality links that you can get pointing to your site. Writing guest articles not only allows you to control the topic of the article as well as the link text used when linking to you website. The links to you are typically within the pages content, another big thumbs up in the eyes of the search engines.
3. Social bookmarking – Social bookmarking is still a great way to get inbound links to your site. Many of the bookmarking services have very high pagerank and carry a lot of weight in the search engines. Aside from the link value, social bookmarking also allows you the opportunity to reach new people that may not have otherwise come across your website.
4. Set up those blogs – There are a lot of very popular real estate related websites out there that will allow you to setup a free blog and begin sharing information and links with others in the real estate industry. Sites like ActiveRain, Trulia and Localism.com have become integral parts of many agents’ marketing campaigns.
5. Join the conversation – Almost by nature, real estate agents are social people, its part of the job. However, many agents seem to hit the web and lose that social aspect of their business, yet if used correctly online, social behavior could be a major contributing factor to your success. How? By joining the conversation that’s already taking place around the real estate web through real estate websites, blogs and forums such as Real Estate Webmasters. There are thousands of resources out there, you can start with this list of real estate blogs and go from there.
The methods above could easily keep you busy for the next year or so due to the sheer number of resources available. It is important to spread your marketing efforts across multiple strategies to create a little variation for the search engines. Most importantly, have fun with it and stay focused on the reason you do this, to get more business and make more money.
