Definition of Real Estate Salesperson
In real estate, when a person obtains a real estate license to become a real estate agent, they are in fact receiving a real estate salesperson's license (or in some states a "real estate broker" license) from the state in which he or she will practice.
If you want to obtain a real estate license, the candidate must meet state specific real estate license requirements and coursework (often between forty and ninety hours) and then pass a state license exam on real estate law and practice. In order to work, salespersons must then be associated with (and act under the authority of) a real estate broker.
