Pennsylvania Real Estate Pre-License Requirements
The requirements below have been set forth by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission and must be met before you are eligible to receive your Pennsylvania real estate license.
- The applicant must be eighteen years of age or older at the time of application.
- You must complete and submit the real estate exam registration to the state.
- Applicants must complete four credits or sixty clock hours of real estate instruction in Real Estate Fundamentals (30 hours) and Real Estate Practice (30 hours) within the last ten years. Alternatively, you may also posses a bachelor’s degree in real estate or the equivalent through an accredited college or university.
- Applicants must successfully complete the Pennsylvania State real estate exam.
Pennsylvania Real Estate Continuing Education Requirements
The Pennsylvania Real Estate Licensing and Registration Act requires all licensed real estate agents to complete a minimum of fourteen hours of continuing education courses during each two year license period, through a state approved real estate school.
If your real estate license has become inactive, you will be required to show proof of successfully completing fourteen hours of continuing education before your license will return to active status.
If your license is in escrow, you will be required by the state to take two additional seven hour elective courses or a fifteen hour broker course to renew your license.
Pennsylvania Real Estate License Reciprocity Agreements
At this time Pennsylvania has reciprocity agreements with the following states:
If you currently hold an active real estate license in any of the above states, you will not be required to complete any further educational or exam requirements to obtain your license in Pennsylvania.
