New Mexico Real Estate Pre-License Requirements
The information highlighted below covers all of the current licensing requirements that you either need to meet or complete before becoming eligible to take the state exam. Please pay close attention to this information as missing any of it may cause complications throughout the licensing process.
All real estate license applicants must:
- be at least eighteen years of age or older at the time of application.
- be a legal resident of the United States.
- submit a real estate license certificate or certified license history if they are currently licensed in any other state or jurisdiction.
- complete a minimum of ninety clock hours of state approved real estate pre-license courses which should consist of at least one 30 clock hour course each in Real Estate Principles and Practice, Real Estate Law as well as Broker Basics prior to taking their real estate exam.

New Mexico Real Estate Exam Information
Have you completed all of your real estate license requirements in preparation for the exam?(see info on this page). The State of New Mexico has outsourced the entire license approval process as well as the real estate exam testing and scoring to PSI Exams Online, a third party testing and certification provider.
Currently, PSI provides the state license exam through a network of computer examination centers in and around New Mexico. They work closely with the State of New Mexico to be sure that all exams meet local and national requirements for basic principles and examination development standards.

New Mexico Real Estate License Reciprocity Information
In a recent change, the New Mexico Real Estate Commission has ended their reciprocal license agreements with a number of other states. The state currently has reciprocity with:
If you are a licensed real estate agent in one of the above states you may not be required to take any additional real estate pre-license courses or take either portion of the broker’s exam to become licensed within the State of New Mexico.
