Minnesota Real Estate License
The information below will provide you with the real estate pre-license and continuing education requirements for the State of Minnesota. Minnesota Pre-License Requirements:
- Applicants will be required to pay a $140 salesperson application fee at the time of writing.
- All real estate salesperson’s must be sponsored by a licensed Minnesota Broker and the agents license will be held by the Minnesota Broker while working under sponsorship.
- Applicants must complete a ninety hour pre-license course approved by the state.
- Applicants must pass the Minnesota real estate exam, with a score of seventy-five percent or better.
Minnesota Continuing Education Requirements:
- All state licensees will be required to complete thirty hours of continuing education courses through a state approved educator, every two years.
- Applicants must obtain at least fifteen of the thirty credit hours mentioned above during the first twelve months of their licensing period.
- Applicants must obtain a minimum of one hour of training during each license period in law or regulations on agency representation and disclosure.
- Applicants must obtain at least one hour of training during each license period in state and federal fair housing laws, regulations, and rules, other anti-discrimination laws, or courses designed to help licensees to meet the housing needs of immigrant and other under served groups.

To obtain a reciprocal real estate license in Minnesota you will need to fax a letter of Certification, a maximum of 90 days old, documenting that you do in fact currently have an active real estate salesperson license in one of the above mentioned states.
If you have a real estate license in a non-reciprocal state, you will be required to fax copies of your course completion certificates for the three pre-licensing courses. All applicable applicants will need to have passed the first course prior to taking the state issued real estate exam. The other two courses may be completed after your examination.
