How Long Does It Take After You Get Your Real Estate Appraisal License Before You Make Money?
After 25 years as a class B operator, I would like to train to become a real estate appraiser. I know the training will take app. 6 months, but how long can I expect to wait before I begin to make money?

I just saw a job ad last week in LA. They were actually going to pay for the school, and pay a salary while the person studied.

As an appraiser, you’d be reliant on people buying/selling homes for money (well, for the most part). You’re going to need to contact the people that know who are buying and selling homes, such as Realtors and mortgage loan officers.
Once you get your licence, have some business cards printed. Go around to the local offices and just introduce yourself. Leave three or four cards at each office. Maybe take a few people out for lunch.
Remember, you’re selling your skills to these people. If there’s a need for an appraiser, they’ll call you. Just remember to network, network, network. How soon you make money (as well as how much) is really up to you.

It is according to the area you live in and how you market yourself. I live in the rural south and appraisers are in high demand. If you can sell yourself to a loan facility, they provide their own appraiser unless you request (sometimes demand) your own. I am sure there are other facilities that do also…Sell yourself…
