Getting Your Real Estate License – It's Not Just About Passing the Test

You’ve made the decision to become a Real Estate Agent, you’ve begun your training, you are well on your way. But passing the test is only the tip of the Real Estate Licensing process. You will still need to establish yourself with a Real Estate Brokerage, and join Realtor Associations, and become a member of a Multiple Listing Service.

Once you obtain your real estate license, your new career begins. Being a Licensed Real Estate Agent is truly about excellence in customer/client service. It means having a desire to not only sell houses, but to help people find a home. In this capacity, you as an agent, have a great deal of power to affect a purchase that may very well be the largest single cash output that your clients have ever made. Always try your best to make this a positive experience for your clients.

It is easy to loose perspective and begin working in your best interest and not your clients. Thinking about the money you are making on a transaction, instead of a home for your clients. In the past, Real Estate salespeople had a very negative image, a history of shady dealings left the general public with a less than stellar opinion of the industry as a whole. The National Association of Realtors has worked diligently to change the negative opinions and create laws to govern the industry, and to establish a code of ethics for how Realtors do business.

The National Association of Realtors code of ethics, a model of working morally and ethically in business, has done much to help change the industries public image. It is Your pledge to your clients that you are working toward their best interest. Your pledge to yourself that you as a business person will work with integrity and honor.

Being a licensed real estate agent, places you in the unique position as to assist your clients in living their dreams. You have chosen one of the best career on earth, follow it with pride, integrity and with a strong ethical code, and you will be a great Real Estate Agent!
