Interested in joining the exciting career of real estate? Florida has a booming housing market and many real estate agents are making money hand over foot. Fortunately, the Florida real estate licensing requirements are not as extensive as some other states, such as California’s real estate requirements. While you will not need any college courses, you will be required to accrue a certain amount of classroom hours before receiving your license. Below is a list of what you will need.

To obtain a real estate license in the State of Florida, the applicant must:

  1. be at least 18 years of age or older
  2. have a high school diploma

All Florida real estate license applicants must also complete the following:

  • All applicants must successfully complete a FREC-approved pre-licensing course for real estate agents. This consists of sixty-three classroom-hours and covers the topics required by the FREC.
  • Applicants must submit a completed application which includes the required electronic fingerprints and licensing fees.
  • Applicants must successfully pass the Florida Real Estate Sales Associate Examination with a score of at least 75 or pass the Florida Real Estate Law Exam with a grade of at least 30.
  • Applicants must submit a completed RE-2050-1 form to activate your new real estate license. If you do not complete this the license will be issued in an inactive status.
  • Regardless of license status(active or inactive), all applicants are required to successfully complete a FREC-approved post-licensing course for sales associate. The post-licensing exam consists of at least forty-five classroom hours and must be completed prior to the expiration of the initial sales associate license.
