Can A Canadien Resident Who Has Their Real Estate License In Canada Get One In California Still Being A?

Readers Question:

Canadien resident? If they move from Canada to California (as a Canadien resident and licensed RE Agent in Canada), can they still obtain and use their California Real Estate License? Sorry if that was more confusing than it had to be lol. Thanks in advance.

You would have to take California’s real estate agency class which is only about 20 classroom hours last time i checked and then you take a test and your done. The class usually cost around $200 to $300 and the book is around $100. It’s been 6 years since i got my last license so the costs may have changed a bit but not much. The reasoning behind this is California has different rules then Canada. The rules are very different if a homeowner is in foreclosure because there are different procedures you have to go through.
