Virtually any exam has the unique ability to strike fear in the hearts of those that are preparing to take it and, unfortunately, there are no exceptions when it comes to the California real estate license exam. These programs are a great way to ensure that you are ready to pass your exam on the first try.
Now with all of that being said, one of the key factors to successfully completing any exam is knowing how to take a test properly. It is also vitally important that you are familiar, perhaps even comfortable, with the information that you are being tested on. Fortunately for you there is a great deal of information available in regards to the California real estate license exam. You can access all of this information through an exam prep course, online sample exam’s as well as from tips and information shared by those that have already taken the exam. No matter how you choose to access the information, building a solid personal understanding of what specific areas the exam will cover increases your chances of passing.
Typically, we recommend that after digging into the root of the information covered in the California real estate license exam you begin by taking practice tests which are designed to make you feel comfortable with the questions being asked as well as the layout of the exam and what to expect. These practice exams will also narrow your focus to key areas that are actually covered in the real California real estate license exam, thus removing the filler or fluff that isn’t relative to your passing. Anytime you can narrow your focus to a specific topic, or sub-topic, you will have the ability to concentrate only on the pertinent bits of information which helps you to maintain your focus on specific areas where improvement is needed.
Often times in life we find that the most helpful advice in a tough situation is also the most obvious advice. Why? Because in most cases, its not that you don’t already know this information but rather that you overlooked it because it was right in front of you the whole time. So, here is our advice for passing your real estate exam, don’t overlook it and take away as much as you can, it will help.
Tip #1: Read the questions on your exam thoroughly. We can’t emphasize this enough. Many, if not all, of the questions given on the California real estate license exam are derived directly from information that you will have already covered in your training courses. However, they are often worded in such a way that may confuse you and cause you to overthink the question. So rather than overthinking or overlooking the obvious, step back and re-read the question slowly. Make sure to extract the real question being asked and forget about anything else, then simply fill-in the appropriate answer because you already know what that answer is.
Tip #2: Don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed by pressure. Exam’s are stressful and anyone that disagree’s is probably not telling you the whole truth. During an exam you are being watched, graded and timed, dealing with one or the other is not so bad, but when you put them together you can easily become overwhelmed with the situation. This results in a “short term memory loss”, the questions begin to make less and less sense to you and the answers are harder to find. If you feel yourself getting into this position then just set your pencil down and take a few deep breaths, relax and then resume.
