A List of Must Haves for Any Real Estate Agents Mobile Office

real estate agent

What should you carry in your car?

As a Real Estate Agent you quickly find that not only do you have an office, you probably have multiple offices, one at the Brokerage, one at home and maybe the most important the one in your car.  Unlike your desk, your car needs to hold a few specialty items along with the more traditional office supplies.

Many Real Estate Agents, think of their car only as transportation, but when you work out of any area as much and often as Agents work from their cars, it is plain to see that in effect your vehicle is a mobile office.  A few well placed items in your trunk will help you keep your business running smoothly.  You may not need these items every day, but when you do need one of them, you’ll be glad you planned ahead. Just like keeping your car clean and running efficiently, the items below will help you look confident, and competent in your clients and colleagues eyes.

Here is a list of must haves, and might come in useful items for your mobile office:

MUST HAVE ITEMS FOR AGENTS MOBILE OFFICE*

  • A complete sales contract**
  • A complete listing contract**
  • Several Blank Addendum pages**
  • Multiple pens
  • Small stapler w/ extra staples
  • Container of paperclips
  • Folders – for signed contracts one for your copy and one for your clients**
  • Calculator
  • Local area street map
  • Appointment calendar -in what ever form you keep it***
  • A brief case or file box to carry the above items
  • Hammer
  • Tools

  • Screwdrivers both slot and phillips head/or a screwdriver-nut driver combo with multiple bits
  • Pliers
  • Scissors
  • Utility Knife
  • Tape Measure
  • Container of extra screws
  • Container to hold tools and screws (a mans travel toiletry bag will hold all but the hammer, and doesn’t take up a lot of room, and they are very durable)
  • Bottled water – a small 6 pack size cooler will keep them from rolling around
  • Snacks like granola bars, or small bags of nuts, pretzels etc. These small items can be stored in a gallon size zip top bag
  • Trash Bags

ITEMS THAT MAY COME IN USEFUL***

  • Flyer box
  • Temporary for sale sign
  • Wisk broom and dust pan or a rechargeable hand held vacuum
  • Childrens activity book or story book
  • Small toys
  • Moist wipes
  • Paper towels

*Be sure to replenish your supplies as they are used, and if your snacks have been in the car for a while, take them out and replace with fresh.

** I like to store contracts, etc. in plastic folders that keep out moisture, and keep the papers looking like new.

*** Your appointment calendar, should follow you where ever you go – but some times it is forgotten.

Don’t forget to keep emergency supplies like a flash light, road flares, a jack, lug wrench, spare tire and a cell phone with you too!
